NOT! This is Grandma (Emma) Gatewood, the first woman to hike the Appalachian trail alone by the way it's approximately 2175 miles long. She did it in 1955 at the age of 67 wearing Keds sneakers. Her gear included an army blanket, a platic shower curtain and a raincoat packed in a homemade bag slung over one shoulder. She did it the first time in1955 then twice more before she died.

I find myself dreading a walk from a far away parking spot at the mall. Maybe it's time to reconsider my attitude. Learning about people like this can cause that.
