For an old fashioned good time...

...you need one of these great books. Every boy and girl should have one of these. There are all sorts of ways for youngsters to amuse themselves in these books. What kids did in the old days is still fun today. American boys can make fishing tackle, build kites, stock an aquarium and lots of other boy (and girl) stuff. In  the American Girls Handy Book we see girls can work on all sorts of fun projects too. The book written by the Beard sisters, two of the founders of the Girl Scouts has projects for every occasion.
Then there is the Field and Forest Handy Book and the Book of Camp-Lore and Wood Craft. Great fun for everyone.

Manifest Destiny Candles Yay!

Yay! We finally got these candles and they are so neat! We've looked at a lot of gifts lately and lots were very very nice, but if I could pick just one for myself it would be one of these beauties. They are made by  company called Manifest Destiny and are gorgeous. They are in a beautiful mercury glass container, wrapped in black tissue and inside a heavy dark box. The graphics on the box are amazing with old photos that along with the unique scent combinations work to tell a story. That's a lot of present in one box!

Opening the Mail

Opening the mail today was a startling experience.

Sunday, December 9, 2012

Well, it's official and we are open for business. It was a little dicey there for a bit with the last minute details and a bad case of the nervous Nellies, but after opening Friday night it was all good. The Porch Mice came and played on our mezzanine, and let me tell you, we love those guys and Julie too! We WILL have them again so be ready to roll on over here for some sweet tunes. Saturday was really busy and a special thanks to Vickie Tinsley for sending so many people our way. What a great town and great people, who made us feel welcome and special. Thank you!
